Drawing Practices

For the start of the day, we were given prompts for four drawings. The prompts were: a sound your body is making (I chose breathing), the sound of the environment, how I felt at the time, and an observational drawing of a 2x2cm of either the floor or our skin (I chose a joint in my finger).

For me my favourite of the four prompts was drawing how I felt. This is my favourite because I got to be very expressive with my marks and the red marker, I used really helped emphasis my feeling at that time, which was discomfort and frustration, because I was ill on this day. I also really enjoyed drawing my breathing, as it created this interesting repeating pattern, however I am partially disappointed at this piece, for the reason that as I was doing it my pen was starting to run out of ink, causing the piece to look faded and not as strong as I would have liked it to be. For me, my least favourite was drawing the sound of the environment, as I had little idea how to respond to the sounds around me and it became confusing, because whilst I was making marks my pen would then create sound and I did not know whether to respond to that sound.
